Why We’re Supporting FCSN

Country Montessori School is excited to partner with Bob Stacey to support the Firefighters Cancer Support Network. We are proud to support FCSN, a trusted nationwide nonprofit organization that has, since 2005, dedicated itself to helping firefighters, EMS providers, and their families navigate the challenges of cancer.

Here’s why FCSN’s work matters, and why our 10 K Walk stands with them:

Cancer is the leading health threat to firefighters today. FCSN notes that cancer accounts for a significant majority of line-of-duty deaths among career firefighters, far more than many people realize.
Firefighters face increased risks. According to FCSN, firefighters have a higher risk of being diagnosed with and dying from cancer, compared to the general population.
FCSN provides real, life-changing support. From the moment of diagnosis, FCSN offers a free “cancer-support toolbox,” peer-to-peer (“badge-to-badge”) mentorship, support for immediate family members, and ongoing guidance to help affected firefighters and their families through treatment, recovery, and survivorship.
FCSN works to prevent future cancer. Beyond support, FCSN offers extensive cancer-prevention education and training for fire/EMS departments nationwide, raising awareness of occupational risks and promoting safety protocols to reduce exposure.
Your participation and donations make a difference. By raising funds through our 10K Walk, we’re helping ensure that FCSN can continue to deliver support, education, and advocacy, giving firefighters and their families hope, community, and the resources they need when facing cancer.

We believe in supporting those who run toward danger, not away, those who protect us. Helping FCSN is one way to show our gratitude, make a tangible impact, and stand in solidarity with our firefighting community.

 Start Time: 10:00 am, Check-in Opens at 9:00 am

 County Montessori School

Location / Course: Start and finish at Country Montessori School, an out-and-back route along Pomerado Rd, a safe, accessible 10K suitable for all fitness levels.

Who can participate: Open to participants of all ages and abilities, families, walkers, runners,and supporters.

Registration & Fundraising:

Participant registration (we ask all participants to make a minimum $10 donation to FCSN)
Not able to participate but want to support, make a direct donation to FCSN.

The funds raised from this walk will support Firefighter Cancer Support Network in their mission:
To assist firefighters and EMS providers and their immediate families diagnosed with cancer by providing badge-to-badge support, training, and guidance.

What to expect on Event Day

Check-in/registration desk: pick up your bib and route map.
Route start and finish area, clearly marked.
Refreshments & hydration stations (water, snacks) at finish.
First aid/safety team on standby.

We’ll send a follow-up “thank you” to all participants, fundraisers, and sponsors.
